Lawyer says case should be filed as per residence jurisdiction

I'm filing my divorce in Chennai, I wanted to file the same at Chennai High court at Parrys, However my lawyer says the case should be filed as per the jurisdiction of the reisidence, as per that it is at Poonamallee. is it normal? The document was submitted to the lawyer aroung 15th July and Im yet to get the case number. My lawyer says the guy who writes the case number is on leave and again the judge on leave etc. Is that normal?
Jurisdiction is based upon the residence of the parties and also the place of marriage. If the marriage has been solemnized within the limits of Chennai, the family court will have jurisdiction. The case might have been returned for any petty compliance, and this is normal. Once it is represented, it will be numbered.

The case can be filed where the marriage took place or where one of you are residing or where you were last residing as husband and wife. Has your Lawyer filed the case? Did you sign the papers? When did you sign the papers? Have you got a copy of the Petition filed by you? Sometimes, the numbering of the case may take sometime but why are you doubting your Advocate? The guy who writes the case number and the Judge on leave is Ok. But your case must be numbered by now. If you are in Chennai and need any further assistance then you can contact me.

Normally jurisdiction is to be fixed and accordingly the case has to be proceeded, normal delay is always there, but i am just unaware of your case and i cannot comment on it. You just contact your counsel for further clarifications.
