Last minute continuance filed from other party??

16-Sep-2023 (In Divorce Law)
I filed a motion to change parenting times 2 months ago. My original court hearing was set for today, Sept 15th. I arrived to court and waited for 30 minutes outside of the court room before someone came out and assisted me in figuring out that my hearing had been continued by the plaintiff's attorney. The continuance paperwork stated that the motion for continuance was filed on Sept 13th at 9am and stated that there was good cause and I, of course, was not notified and there was obviously not adequate time for the mail to arrive before the original hearing. I live nearly an hour away from the courthouse where the hearing was scheduled, I don't understand how this could be allowed? What could my next step be? Could I used this against them to try to get unsupervised visitations with my kids? Could I also find out what the "good cause" was?

The motion of continuance should have been shared with you. The court can’t prepone or extend the date without hearing the other party. Nowadays they just share it via mail or even by WhatsApp also. You can always fight over this in your normal court hearing days. And why you waited for so long outside the court…???
