Well, she might be asking, so that, she can quote you the fees, which she wants to complete your Mediation process or any fees for the work which she has done previously, might be, she was asking for any other reason.

If your have paid the decided fees to your lawyer, for the service and legal representation, then your lawyer does not have any right to claim monitory percent from your alimony which was decided via mediation in supreme court. You can file a complaint against him in the Bar Council.

The professional fees of a lawyer should be mutually agreed upon at the beginning of the engagement. Lawyers typically charge based on consultation fees, court appearances, documentation, and other legal services. However, demanding a percentage of the alimony or settlement amount is not a standard or ethical practice under the Bar Council of India rules. Lawyers are prohibited from entering into agreements to share a portion of the compensation or benefits obtained by their clients. If your lawyer has not disclosed her fee structure initially and is now demanding a percentage of your alimony or settlement, this should be addressed immediately. You may: Request a clear written explanation of the fees. Consider whether this demand violates ethical norms. Approach the Bar Council or seek another legal opinion if the demand seems unjust. Since you’ve already covered expenses and there was no prior agreement on a percentage, you are not obligated to pay anything beyond agreed-upon legal fees. Transparency and trust are essential in lawyer-client relationships, so it’s important to resolve this matter before proceeding further.
