Husband cheated on me and had an extramarital affair

My husband cheated on me . He had an affair with his colleague. He is ready to give in written on stamp paper that he won’t repeat such mistake in future and asking me to stay in his life. But am unsure how much value stamp paper writing holds as per the law? And what further actions i can take if he persist doing such affairs in future. Religion: Hindu
