How to change lawyer and get money back

For my divorce case I hired a very expensive lawyer whom I paid also but after 7 months my case status still shows return to summons notice.The lawyer asks me to trust him and shows a lot of busyness and when I ask him to file for domestic violence in parallel he says first the initial divorce petition should be realised then we can put other petiotns .I just need help to know how correct this is ? Incase I want to change the laywer how can I ensure I get the money that I paid back.

Hello there is some exceptional confusion between you and your lawyer, I think your lawyer should help you for filing immediate case of DV which can go simultaneously, your lawyer might not have taken steps in your divorce proceedings due to which it is stuck at one stage only
