how do i legally change my wife's daughter's father name to my name?

I am re-married. my wife already has a daughter from her first husband. how do i legally change her daughter's father name to my name? her school is not changing based on the request. they are asking for the legal documents.
You can file a suit before city civil court and request to change the name by making you and your step daughter as party. If her biological father is alive then he also has to be made as party and notice has to be sent to him if he has an objection then you can't change it.

hi you need to approach court for changing name and state the reasons for changing the name now and it is duly process of court and you have no alternative remedies and all process will take a span of 7 months atleast once you approach court
