False dowry demand case, and threatening for 376 and 377 case against.

16-Jan-2024 (In Divorce Law)
After ring ceremony, girls parents started misbehaving with my parents. When we told them that this way things can't be taken forward. They called us to discuss at a location and bought goons with them to threaten us. We were against dowry since starting, but girls father approached their police station and filed false dowry case against us. Police officer even did not give me the copy of complaint, he just let me read the complaint and said that you have to compensate. What can we do?

file an rti for getting copy of complaint made against you. check whether a fir has been filed. Even before getting married, asking for dowry is illegal, and in these situations the Dowry Prohibition Act of 1961 will still apply.

We can contest the complaint with substantive proofs and also if the complaint is leading to filing of FIR, it is suggested to take anticipatory bail in advance to secure yourself. For further assistance feel free to contact Thanks

A complaint can be filed. Further, gather evidence. Filing of criminal intimidation to your family by the girl's family will also do. Generally, when a complaint is filed, a report is prepared by the police after listening to the other party. If the police find sufficient reasons to proceed with the case then FIR is lodged.

Greetings, I am able to understand that the girl's father has played a cunning game with you and your family and is trying to extort money in the garb of such practices. I would say that you need to act swiftly otherwise it will escalate the issue and more charges would be levied on you. Kindly consult me directly
