What is the punishment for domestic violence act case. Not BNS 85.
Provisions of Domestic Violence Act is not punishable. Wife claim various kind of reliefs from husband. Like maintenance, right to reside in matrimonial home, prevent husband to alginate his property and claim share in the property.

The Magistrate may grant reliefs such as protection, residence, monetary relief, custody, and compensation. Breach of a protection order or interim protection order is a criminal offence under Section 31, punishable with imprisonment up to 1 year, or fine up to ₹20,000, or both. Other criminal offences, if separately established, may attract punishment under the applicable penal law.
