it's a very big task in e courts you can check with his name in concern jurisdiction but the problem is if women file the case in other states it's very difficult to trace ....the best way is asking his near and dears about his background for atleast 2 to 3months tha actual facts will come out.

No—name alone is not sufficient to verify whether a person is legally divorced. A divorce in India is valid only when a competent court passes a decree of divorce. Therefore, the only conclusive proof is a certified copy of the divorce decree/judgment. In absence of direct disclosure, verification can be done through: 1. Court Records Search – Check the jurisdictional Family Court/District Court where the parties last resided. Most courts maintain case records (physical or e-courts portal), but accurate details like spouse name, case number, or year are usually required. 2. E-Courts Services – Limited searches can be attempted online, but name alone is often insufficient due to multiple similar entries. 3. Affidavit/Declaration – In matrimonial alliances, it is standard to insist on a sworn affidavit and production of divorce decree. Caution: Proceeding on assumptions or incomplete verification is risky. If the person is not legally divorced, any subsequent marriage may be void and expose parties to criminal liability (bigamy). Insist on documentary proof—there is no legally reliable shortcut.

You cannot confirm someone’s divorce status using only their name. Divorce records are maintained by courts, and you typically need specific details like case number, spouse’s name, or court location to search. Some court websites allow case searches, but a name alone is usually insufficient and may give multiple or inaccurate results.
