Divorce on Mutual Consent - Chennai

31-Dec-2023 (In Divorce Law)
Hello. My wife and I have decided to file for divorce on mutual consent. While I'd be physically present during the petition submission, I may travel abroad in the coming months. Am I allowed to appear in video conferences for further process and orders ? Please help! I'm based out of Chennai.

It entirely depends on the judge of the court in which your case will be handled. But in certain cases video conferencing is permitted or through some other person. As soon as the petition for divorce by mutual consent is presented the court will adjourn the case to a date after six months mandatory period. If you can make it to the final hearing that will be the conclusion of the case.
