Claim of maintenance by son who has changed his surname officially

30-Sep-2023 (In Divorce Law)
My son, living with his mother, is claiming maintenance. Earlier I had listed a mutually owned property to the mother as a one-time settlement to them. The son has changed his surname officially. I want to know whether he is still eligible to claim any maintenance when he is not carrying my name and has had no contact with me in the past 2 years. I am a Hindu by religion.

your son will remain your son, so long as he has not been adopted by someone else. so need so if he has been adopted by someone else or not. by merely changing his name won't give you the right to shun from your duty. However, you can always take this as a plea and moreover can take the plea that you have already paid the amount to his mother during one time settlement..

To answer this query, I want to know about age of your son. Moreover, the property that you transferred to your wife is full and final settlement for the maintenance and or alimony given to her only or also to your son. Generally speaking a father must provide maintenance to his minor son and daughter, and in that case he is fully entitled
