Cheating by Fake marriage promise and defamation

15-Jun-2023 (In Divorce Law)
I got engaged to a person for one year. Our engagement was on September 10th of 2022 in the presence of our families and relatives. We had a deep relationship thereafter. It was him who approached my family with the proposal and convinced me and my family for this marriage. Then now his family conveyed to my family that they canceled the wedding without telling proper reasons. Can I demand a redressal or any other legal claims? Or atleast a discussion with him and his family for clarification?

definitely you can place demand for marriage and it's not accomplished, that person shall be held responsible, liable to be punished for rape upon fake promise to marriage. in this regard, the scope for compensation from that person is also left open
