Can sister files for divorce if husband is a drinks and fights

this question is in regards to my sister situation "my husbands drinks and fights. due to increasing domestic violence i want to leave his house along with my 7 years old kid. kindly let me know what legal proceedings i have to do."
come out first from his house. later we can issue legal notice to him and later she can file a petition for divorce and also sought for maintenance for her child.
