Alimony calculation for monthly and lumpsum amount
26-Mar-2024 (In Divorce Law)
Hi , I want to know how much alimony do I need to pay to my wife in lump sum or mobthly. We are married for 11 years 5 months. I earn 1.5 lakh a month and don't have any assets or property. I'm Hindu by religion.
Basically it is half of what you earn. Lump sum could be whatever you can negotiate. I believe it should be around 35 lakhs to 50 lakhs. Most important thing is to give her on a monthly basis, this is because when she marries someone else you wouldn't e required to pay her. So there is no point in paying lump sum when probably she will marry someone else or maintains illicit relationship. Let that someone take care of her expenses and you limit your liability as far as possible.
