After submission of counter by respondent, judge is asking for attend

02-Jul-2025 (In Divorce Law)
After submission of counter by respondent, judge is asking for attendance for both parties. What is the procedure after filing of counter by respondent. Is everything going in a correct way or my lawyer is fooling me. If suppose mediation means whether we need to compulsory attend. If we don't attend what will be the consequences??

No, mediation is generally a voluntary process and attendance is not mandatory unless specifically ordered by a court. While courts may encourage or even refer parties to mediation, parties are not typically compelled to participate or to settle. However, in some jurisdictions, particularly for family law matters, there may be a requirement to attempt mediation before taking a case to court.

You may have been called for Counselling Session in a Family Court to attend. It is not compulsory to attend such Counselling Sessions. During these Counselling Sessions, a Mediator tries to settle the Marital dispute between two parties, so that, they can avoid litigating in Court in future.
