From the facts stated, you should not ignore or skip the notice issued under Section 41A CrPC. This is a legal intimation for appearance during investigation and non-compliance may result in adverse action, including arrest. Therefore, it is advisable to respond through an advocate and appear as required, while ensuring your legal rights are protected. You are not legally bound to produce only Aadhaar. Any valid government identity proof such as passport, driving licence or voter ID can be furnished. The police generally seek Aadhaar only for address and identity verification, but you may provide alternate ID if you have privacy or security concerns. It is also advisable to give only copies and not originals, and obtain proper acknowledgment. Since a 498A FIR has been registered, you and your family members should immediately seek anticipatory bail before the competent court to avoid coercive steps. At the same time, you may cooperate with the investigation through your counsel and place your defence on record. Proper legal strategy at this stage is crucial to prevent misuse and to protect all accused persons.
