whether adult chat on a website with adults is illlegal

Hi, My friend was using adult chat in a website. All of a sudden,got a reply from the user stating that this is from cyber cell and you will be caught. whether adult chat is illegal ? Please help me to know about this.

Hi, Indian Majority Act, 1875, the adult age must at least 18. In case, at the time of registration for adult chat,if you had given wrong info. about your age,place ..etc., you can be convicted under Information Technology laws. We need to discuss more on the issue so that i can understand exact issue and suggest you better ways.
