In a 498A matter, the FIR can be quashed only by a High Court order, not merely on the mediator’s assurance. Since the dispute has been amicably settled through court-referred mediation and settlement terms have been complied with, you must ensure that a joint memo/affidavit of settlement is filed and the High Court passes a final quash order specifically quashing the FIR against all accused. Until such order is passed, the FIR legally continues. As regards future cases, while the wife cannot reopen the same cause of action once settled and quashed, she is not absolutely barred from filing new criminal cases based on fresh and distinct causes, if any. Therefore, obtain a written settlement recorded by the High Court and a clear quash order to protect yourself and your parents.

Sir, you can reopen your case, if your wife is not complying with the terms or violating the terms of the mediation agreement, based on those terms you can seek for your claims. feel free to contact for any legal advice.
