What to do if police did not put seal on duplicate complaint letter

30-Apr-2023 (In Criminal Law)
I went a police station located in Kolkata for registered G.D with a complaint letter and a copy of its. But who attended me in police station, he has been refused to seal or stamp on my duplicate complaint letter. He just wrote the G.D number on a paper and seal it. Is it a legal process? What should I do?

Naturally the police should give you the received copy of the complaint letter which has been registered as General Diary Entry so that the same could be shown to other places required. But many a times the police doesn't do it in that event you do not lest with any document except the GDE number, hence you write the same complaint letter and send it to the same police station through speed post and keep the receipt which you can show to authorities you want along with the complaint letter and the GDE number. All the best. Regards

No this is not the way, the Police officer need to enter your complaint in the general diary of the Police Station and put the Gd no along with sign and seal on the duplicate copy and return that back to the complainant.

There must be a reason behind the non commission of stamp on your duplicate complaint letter. I suggest you co-operate with the police to know the real reason. Without going into further details i cannot advice further.
