Police will always get a lead to arrest the accused. Case gets registered so till the file is closed investigation will continue. I need to know detailed summary of the incident to give you appropriate suggestion.

If you have any kind of insurance made or done against the stolen amount then the FIR will be a sufficient document to get recovery from the insurance company. But in case you are only asking about the fate of the cash stolen then without the investigation officer being able to recover the stolen money even if the accused are found and convicted will not automatically guarantee the return of your money since criminal offences are made against the state and the state cannot force someone to give or extract something they do not have.

Well the police will investigate the matter first then submit reports to the court from time to time. If you are not pleased with the investigation you can ask the court for an update on the investigation and if also you are not satisfied with the progress you can ask for investigation by a higher authority of police before the same court or the high Court.
