In your case the summons can be served via courier or even though WhatsApp. Because if you send it through mail there is no proof of delivery and acceptance. For more legal assistance I am just a call away.

If the defendant is living in the USA, the court may order service outside India under Order V Rule 25 and Rule 26. Since both India and the United States are parties to the Hague Service Convention, summons are commonly served through the Convention. The Indian court forwards the summons through the prescribed channel (usually via the designated Central Authority), and the U.S. authorities arrange service in accordance with U.S. law.

There are a few ways you can get the defendant to be served with the court notice. You have to take proper court orders for the summons to be served upon the defendant through the Ministry of Home Affairs by providing her complete postal address. Generally, just by serving notice through E-Mail won't suffice as even if you get the defendant decreed ex-parte based upon service through e-mail, it is possible that in future, that defendant may come up and dispute the fact that the e-mail was not being used by him/ her and that ex-parte decree may get set aside. It is advisable that to serve a proper notice, you must avail the proper legal channel by getting it served through MHA, which will secure your future interests. Good luck!

Service of summons on a defendant residing in the USA is governed by the provisions of the BNSS (earlier CrPC), the applicable court rules, and international arrangements. Merely sending summons by email is not the standard procedure unless the court specifically permits such mode of service. Normally, the court may direct service through the appropriate diplomatic/consular channel, Letters Rogatory (where applicable), or any other mode recognized by law and accepted by the foreign jurisdiction. In some cases, if the court is satisfied that electronic service is appropriate and legally valid, it may permit service by email, but this is not automatic. Therefore, you should ask your advocate whether the court has passed a specific order permitting email service. The correct procedure depends on the nature of the criminal case, the stage of proceedings, and the provisions invoked. A second opinion may be useful after examining the court's order and case records.
