Want to file defamation suit against employer called him by other name

Sir/madam, If a boss calls an employee with an ironically with a name other than his actual name in front of a number of people. Can it make a ground for filing a criminal case for defamation against the boss.
No generally trifles or petty offences are ignored by the law under section 95 of IPC(Indian Penal Code). Further it's an honest mistake which is excused generally under S 299 of IPC. Actual damages and loss of reputation needs to be proved beyond any probabilities.
