get the details of the case through some person or advocate, ask them to issue you a notice and if any FIR or matter is there. get your statement recorded that you are major and you are living with your own free will. you can get it done through advocate also and make your statement recorded. nothing else to worry. article 21 encapsulates right to life and liberty coupled with your choice to live. if they are worried and it's being done procedure as told you here would be suffice.

Since you are 21 years old, you are a major in the eyes of law and have the legal right to live wherever you choose. If your parents have filed an FIR under Section 346 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (wrongful confinement), the police may call you only to verify your safety and statement. You are not required to panic. You may inform the police that you are staying voluntarily and are safe. If necessary, you can appear before the concerned authority or magistrate and give a voluntary statement confirming that you left on your own free will. If you are not mentally or physically fit to travel immediately, you may communicate this and request reasonable time. It is also advisable to consult a lawyer and obtain details of the FIR to understand the allegations before visiting the police station.

Since you are 21 years old and legally a major, you have the right to live wherever you choose and your parents cannot force you to return home through criminal proceedings unless there is a specific criminal allegation. You should first ask the police for a copy of the FIR and complete details of the case, and avoid visiting the police station alone. Inform them in writing that you are currently unwell and unable to travel.

Section 346 bns is a bailable offence. You can call the investigation officer to ask more about the case or approach the relevant magistrate. The district magistrate has no involvement in matters of criminal nature. You would likely have to go before the local area magistrate at the court.
