Settlement of criminal case in Lok Adalat

If a criminal case has been settled in lok adalat, does it have same value to acquittal? Recently court ruled that for defence jobs, honourary acquittal is required, so will a case which has been settled in lok adalat affect prospect of government job ?

It will depend on the terms of settlement as in how have you settled. Have you pleaded guilty or simply settled with a statement. Otherwise in criminal matters, when a settlement is arrived upon then generally MMs record a statement of the Complainant and on the basis of that statement acquit the Accused.

It depends on the terms and conditions of settlement and the statement you had given before the court. That’s whether you pleaded guilty in the matter or simply settled it. But in both cases the Magistrate is duty bound to acquit the Accused. For more legal assistance I am just a call away.

Always remeber there is a remarkable difference between acquittal, withdrawal as compromise or plea bargaining. it is advisable to know the complete facts of the case before going ahead with the matter at lok Adalat. A detailed consultation is advisable.
