Yes, you can consider legal action even if you do not belong to the category, because the comment is publicly derogatory and may amount to intentional insult, harassment, or other offences depending on its context; however, offences specifically requiring the victim to belong to a protected caste/category may not apply to you. Preserve screenshots, the URL, username and date/time, and you can approach the cyber police/local police for appropriate action.

No you cannot press the SC ST act against the person as you are not the person from that community, also the remarks are derogatory and defamatory in nature so that you need to get an NC done in the Police station and a legal notice for mental harassment, compensation and defamation against the person

If the comment publicly uses caste-based derogatory and insulting language against you, you should preserve the original comment, screenshot, video URL, date/time, and account/profile details without editing the evidence. Depending on the exact words, context, and identity of the persons involved, the matter may attract provisions relating to intentional insult, intimidation, defamation and, where the statutory ingredients are satisfied, offences under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. Since you state that you do not belong to the caste/category referred to, the exact applicability should be assessed from the complete comment and surrounding circumstances. Please send the complete screenshots/video link, the commenter’s profile details and any other relevant evidence on WhatsApp for detailed examination. After reviewing the material, I can advise whether a police complaint/cyber complaint is appropriate and which legal provisions may be applicable.
