First of all report to the chief editor of the Eenadu about the activities of the reporter and demand strict action against him. If the publication office doesn't extend any help and if you think that by writing such news by the reporter has caused serious damage to your reputation and goodwill in the society, you can very well proceed legally against the reporter. You can file a criminal defamation case against the reporter in the magistrate court via private complainant under section 499 and 500 of IPC. Punishment for criminal defamation is imprisonment which may extend to two years or fine or both. You can also file a civil suit for damages in the civil court of jurisdiction and claim monetary compensation from the reporter for the loss of reputation and goodwill.
