Requesting suggestion for knowing the update of FIR lodged
21-Aug-2023 (In Criminal Law)
Filed FIR against few unruly youths (members of unregistered club) who robbed entrance door of our common passage & destroyed high mast lights installed by municipal corporation at a vacant plot in front of my house & threatened me because of my repeated protests & complaints to administration against their open alcohol drinking, ganja smoking, gambling & many such public nuisances done regularly on that vacant plot (unregistered club is situated on that plot). Submitted cctv footages to the investigating officer (IO) where it is clear 3 persons were actively doing the crime, remaining one was supporting from back. During FIR, I mentioned 2 names out of 4; after knowing the name of others, informed their details thru WhatsApp & email. Meanwhile, owner of local grill factory reverted back that robbed door to me which I informed immediately to IO. Among 4 accusers, IO is focusing on 1 only; others are roaming around. 24 days gone, no response from IO. What would be my next step please?
Even after lodging the FIR and even after your continuous cooperation with the IO, if the police doesn't do its duty properly, you should immediately represent your grievances before the various authorities of police, e.g. Officer in Charge of the police station, SDPO, the Circle Inspector, the Superintendent of Police, the Commissioner of Police etc. Waiting for around a week if you see the same isn't working either, you should resort to the Hon'ble High Court by a writ of police in action. The situation will be much improved, many of my clients got relief this way. All the best and regards

You need to confirm whether any FIR has been lodged or not. If an FIR has been lodged, you need to complaint before the higher authorities against the IO for his inaction in the matter. You can also approach the Hon'ble High Court for police inaction.
