Request advice to a senior citizen, facing financial threat

29-Jun-2023 (In Criminal Law)
I am Prasad A Nagpur, a senior citizen (68 Years) from Chennai struggling for survival with no means of proper earnings especially since March ‘20 due to the corona lockdown situation. Added to these worst situations, I am being faced with frequent harassment from a moneylender (for a borrowed loan of Rs.3.00 Lakh through a MEDIATOR along with interest @3.5% per month since November 2017 based on stamp paper). Even though the amount owed has been disbursed through the mediator of both the parties during February 2018 itself (principal amount along with interest, by way of remittance) and as the MEDIATOR has evaded the payment to either of them (till now), I am being put into trouble by both, (1) the lender who frequently threatens to cite police complaints and (2) the mediator, who is not at all bothered to respond. Kindly suggest considering relief for the elderly abused as we (me & family members) are not strong enough financially as well as emotionally.

you can call the police to report the threat. Each state has their own criminal laws against making threats and harassment. If a threat is determined to be credible by the police, then they may be able to arrest the aggressor, who could then face criminal charges for making the threat

Dear client, according to this issue, while pandemic and lockdown situation is happening, nobody can threatened you.... before they start proceedings, you lodge a complaint in police station immediately against them , with the help of an advocate. you can seek remedy there.
