Railway Track Crossing (Section147 Railway Act)

21-Feb-2023 (In Criminal Law)
I was caught by RPF for crossing railway track , they gave us two options either pay megistrate fine and go or pay it in the court itself when summoned . We decided to pay on spot , they made us sign two papers while collecting fine , asked for name and address. But by then megistrate had come so they took all of us to megistrate (railway) where we paid 500 rupees and were given recipet of the same . We where allowed to go . Now is this a criminal offence or just a challan given that one can be sentenced to prison also for 4 months ... What should be my response to the question of WERE YOU EVER BEING ARRESTED PROSECUTED , CONVICTED IN ANY COURT OF LAW IN INDIA ?? IS IT JUST PROSECUTION OR CONVICTION ??

Dear Sir
You need not disclose in negative otherwise you can approach higher court and get that sentence set aside. In legal terminology it is conviction. If you have time you can approach High Court or Sessions Court.. If you are brave then mention in Negative and forget about such sentence.
