purchased a car from a person who posted an ad in olx

We recently purchased a car from a person who posted an ad in olx and the car registration has been transferred to our name. After a month, local police called us today asking to submit the car in the police station stating that owner who sold us the car is a swindler and committed multiple crimes and extortion and purchased this car with that money.Kindly help us as this is our hard earned money and gifted this car to my retired father.

hi if the police are asking you to deposit the car in station then you could say that you are not liable for the actions committed by them and that if they are still insisting then you could approach court seeking relief
