Punishment for child beating at home or at school

19-Sep-2023 (In Criminal Law)
If a parent, for any reason, beats the child or uses any kind of physical force, is it illegal? What is the punishment? What if this is the case when the child is under the supervision of a relative? Or when teachers use abusive language that can demean a child's confidence or uses physical punishment? I would like to know as a parent about the right of my child.

Whoever beats a child, be it father or mother or teacher or brother or sister or nearest relative, would be committing criminal offence. It is cruelty against children for which a severe punishment awaits under POSCO Act. As a parent, you are only supposed to advise your child, bring up the child in such atmosphere that it learns what you aim at, but not supposed to create a fear psychosis in the mind of the child. Better consult a child mentor for how to achieve your goal with your children. Children's mind is fragile and can have long lasting effects - good or bad.
