PSim card being used by someone else who is doing criminal activity

My boyfriend 6 years ago gave his Jio sim card to someone who gave it to someone else who happens to be a criminal/molester. And that number happens to be linked to my boyfriend's Aadhaar. He's been given a notice by the police to come to the police station tomorrow. Is he going to be arrested? Is there anything else that we should worry about?
