Problem in getting a central government job under UPSC

22-Nov-2023 (In Criminal Law)
one of my family member (my father's younger brother) was convicted in a case under IPC section 354 and IPC section 442 in the year 2006. I was just 14 years old at that time. No other family member was even named in that case including my parents. but i come from a joint family and we all lived together then. Now will this situation cause any problem to me in getting me a central government job (UPSC civil service) . I know they ask for only candidate's credentials and not family member's. still I am worried. Please help.

Hi,

Regarding your candidature for the UPSC. Do not worry, a person's conviction is applicable only to themselves and is not a reflection on any other person/family member. In this regard, you have nothing to worry about and there will be no adverse inference on your candidature.
