No charge sheet filed for 498a even after 8 months

Hi Team,
I wanted to know what is time limit to file charge sheet.
As my relatives wife filed a case and police also harassed a lot him and my uncles (senior citizens) during filing fir.
But after 8 moths passed and still no charge sheet has filed.
Is there any time limit to file charge sheet or its just at police discretion and accused can not do anything by law
charge sheet is file by police officer and that process complate in 90 days and report it. first time police is not file FIR but created porecess regard and more harrssed problem file against FIR for more enquiry or Daubuts content me i give my best reply
