NGO bullying and threatening to destroy career after interning there

Hello respected Sir/Madam My name is , I worked as an intern with an NGO, they never gave me any money not even an appointment letter or any certificate they just said they may hire us full time and I needed to stay in Kolkata so I agreed, but while working their website hosting crashed but I took one backup, but most of the work I did was lost, but then they said they don't want me so I left the NGO, and now when I am about to start my career somewhere else they are threatening me saying they will send me a legal notice that I crashed their website and then fix it but all my work is gone and they want that work back, but I don't have that much time or interest in doing that, but they still want me to do it, I am a fresher and they are threatening to destroy my career please help me
Firstly you should not worry so much and more its a mechanical error and not human error. Whatever has happened with you write on a paper to lodge an intimation letter for your safety. NGO mostly are wiered

Was there any agreement of internship with the NGO? How long it's been now since you left the job? And when did their website crashed? Legal positions cannot be answered without complete facts, as the answer will differ from one facts to other facts.
From your writing it appears these are wild cries they cannot do anything. You continue with your work. You don't have to go back otherwise they might put some other allegation against you maybe theft or breach of trust. Generally it would be better to get a relieving letter before leaving the intern. And return of all the assets of the employer.
