Nationalized Bank MOD clearance Suspicious activity by bank, confusi

06-Jul-2025 (In Criminal Law)
I cleared all outstanding in my housing loan in a nationalized bank. The bank nominated a document writer and asked me to bear the MOD clearance charges. I sent a mail to the bank to intimate me the MOD clearance charges, because they only nominated the document writer. Suddenly now I received a mail from the bank that they have cleared MOD and asked me to collect the documents from the bank. I doubt this suspicious act and behind which a big scam is there. What should I do now

You can file a written representation to the Branch Manager requesting a detailed statement of all charges incurred, including a breakup of the MOD clearance charges, along with copies of the MOD cancellation documents. If the bank fails to respond transparently, file a complaint with the Banking Ombudsman under RBI guidelines citing unauthorized action and lack of consent. Additionally, send a legal notice seeking full disclosure and justification for nominating a document writer without your explicit approval. You may also file an RTI application if it's a public sector bank to obtain internal correspondence related to MOD clearance. If documents are already released, verify them thoroughly before acknowledgment and raise objections in writing if discrepancies are found.
