Limitation Period For Filing FIR In A 307 Case?

09-Aug-2023 (In Criminal Law)
A person was beaten by group of people with lathis and seriously injured. He got forearm fractured, his 3rd finger fractured and due to malpractice by doctor, his finger is now in bent position permanantly. They also broken his middle tooth. They all are powerfull people in the city. They directed police not to register his FIR. He went here n therewith his father for justice but no use. Then he lost hope and left that area. After 5-6 yrs he came to know by a law person that someone came file FIR anytime, after giving a reason of delay. So, my question is, whether he can file an FIR now or not, if yes, then what reason he should give for delay.

You can file FIR against those people anytime. However, it is always better to register the FIR as soon as possible after the incident.
In your case, the only valid reason he can give is since those people were influential, I was warned and threatened not to file FIR against them. Now since my family and the concerned law person is in my support, I am willing to register FIR against those persons.
