Lended money to a friend in Pune

A Friend from old company asked for some money in bits and total amount was given around 1.2 lakh and after that from the past three months daily he is telling u'll get the money but he is not returning the money.
Money was given to him via upi from Gurgaon and the guy is from Pune.

You can send him a legal notice and if he still doesn’t return, file a suit for recovery as well as lodge a police complaint against him. Is there any particular reason he’s not returning? Is his acceptance in writing or verbal?

I would suggest you to either create an evidence first so that the borrower could admit on whatsapp or call recording that he has taken money from you and have not returned till today. Or in the alternative, you can directly file a legal notice to his new office address which can obviously make him embarrass in front of the entire office and he can probably approach you to settle the same in an amicable manner.
