Is Mobile Call Recording illegal

yesterday i receive a call of my manager and he dont know that om my mobile phone there is automatic call rec feature, and he blame me what i did its a criminal activity. so it is a criminal activity or not ?
You have not written complete communication held between you and your manager without which it would be difficult to say anything, however, if somebody abuses any person or talks something which is derogatory or hurts, defame, one can bring criminal as well as civil case against him.
