"IPC 294 aur parked car mein kissing - kya offence hai?"

18-Aug-2025 (In Criminal Law)
I (18+) and my girlfriend (18+) were kissing inside our parked car on the side of highway with hazard light on and with consent. A police constable came, said it’s an offence under IPC 294, threatened challan of ₹20,000 for “bouncing car,” and recorded us without permission. We paid money out of fear. Is kissing in a private parked car really an offence? Can a constable do this and record us? What are our rights?

No. There is nothing like a bouncing car challan. But yes what you have done is deemed to be an offence if committed in public space. In India its considered an obscene act in public. But in such cases never bow down to such demands. If you need help you can call and discuss

Hi there, answer to your query wrt to car is YES. Since, cars are considered by the court as a public place therefore it's a punishable offence. As to recording, no the police officer cannot record the private act but still there's a loophole. If you have any questions please contact me and consult considering the private nature of the issue.

Kissing between consenting adults in a parked car is not an offence under IPC 294, as it is not in public view. There is no challan of ₹2,00,000 for such act. The constable’s threats and recording without consent were illegal. You can complain to senior police officers or the Human Rights Commission for misuse of authority.

No, it is not an offence at all...you shoulf have asked what legal provisions you are violating and let the challan be issued. paying such an amount to a police constable is totally unreasonable. Recording is not authenticated
