I have given money to relative

I have given 14 Lakhs to relative and as surety I have collected cheques, now he is saying I have already given all the amount and now replied to notice stating will file 420 case, if give complaint in police station he threatening he will commit suicide
Dear Sir,
You can exhaust both the remedies. First lodge a complaint with police and try to get register FIR then try to settle the matter since cheque bounce cases may take years together to be decided. Second option is to deposit the cheque with the higher amount that includes interest etc and get issue statutory legal notice within 30 days from the date of dishonor then file a cheque bounce case before magistrate Court.
