I am trying to know about FIR and action after it
21-May-2023 (In Criminal Law)
Before 6 years , one of my relatives went for a coaching in a residential institution. After about 6 months , a theft of some money was committed in the institution by someone. Coincidentally he left the institution after some days of the incident. After some months , he heard about some rumours that he was pointed out to be the accused because he left the institution at that time.
He is now preparing for Govt jobs. He is very much confused if any FIR was filed against him or not, though the police never contacted or called him.
6 years passed after that.
Is there any chance of a FIR registered against him?
if the police have not contacted you it can mean that the police haven't found you and you are declared a proclaimed absconder by the court and a non bailable arrest warrant is pending against you. now if you are residing under the same police station that you were residing at the time of commision of the crime then you need not worry because police would have definitely come for you if the FIR was registered against you or police could have got any suspicion aginst you. I would strongly suggest you not to think so much and I'm sure the police report will give you a clean chit for your govt job.

There are ways of checking whether a FIR is launched against him or not. Sometimes police place few files in a desk and then they dont act because of huge work load however if your relative clears a government job then for police clearance he has to produce a certificate. At that point in time if any previous FIR is there then he will not get the government job as per government guidelines.
