I am filed and Accused under IPC Section 509

25-Apr-2023 (In Criminal Law)
Hi I have been filed with a case under IPC 509 for showing private part to an unknown woman. I got bail next day afternoon after taken to court. What can be done in the case? I am trying for government exams. The police is saying to admit the offence, pay the fine and the case will be closed. While the lawyer said not to accept. Will it affect my future, my education, my job, i am applying for government services jobs?

under all government jobs one of the eligibility is that you should not be convicted of moral turpitude. the offence of 509 if accepted and convicted falls under moral turpitude. you should challenge the case and aim for acquittal ... and this will affect your future.

The Lawyer was right in suggesting that you should not admit the offence. Once you admit the offence it will be considered that you have committed the crime and hence you will be punished accordingly. But if the case goes on and stands in court, it will be the duty of the complainant and state to prove your crime. And if the complainant fails to provide evidence, you will be aquitted. It is the rule of Criminal law that you are innocent until proven guilty. So if your crime is not proved you will be declared innocent and hence acquitted. When the case is going on and if in future you get acquitted , it will not affect your job in any way. However if you admit the offence, it might hamper your career.
