17-Mar-2026 (In Criminal Law)
I had a lodged a FIR. Since 1 year police didn't submit final report in court. SHO & ACP says court is not accepting because of workload. I know they are lying. 1. How can I get Order Sheet/ Copy of Objections in final report by court? 2. What's the full procedure of it? 3. Can I get this myself without a lawyer? 4. Or can I get this documents from court by filing RTI?

you can get a copy of the final report from the court itself by demanding it from the judge on the next date of hearing. you don't need a lawyer for this as you can appear before the judge yourself and demand the same from the judge. in case the judge does not provide you a copy of the final report you can complain to the district judge. you can also file an RTI for obtaining these documents which would take a maximum of 30 days.

If no final report/charge sheet has been filed for such a long period, your suspicion is justified and you are entitled to verify the actual status directly from the court. You can obtain the order sheet and case status by visiting the concerned court where the FIR is triable and filing a copy application in the copying section. This can be done personally without engaging a lawyer. You need to provide FIR number, police station, and approximate year, and apply for certified copies of the order sheet. The same is usually provided within a few days. If no final report has been filed at all, there will be no court record beyond the FIR reference, which itself will clarify that the police have not filed anything yet. You may also check the status online through the e-Courts portal, which often reflects whether any charge sheet/final report has been filed. Filing an RTI before the court is generally not effective, as judicial records are accessed through the prescribed copying procedure and RTI is usually not entertained for such purposes. However, you can file an RTI with the police department seeking the status of investigation and reasons for delay. If it is confirmed that the police have not filed the final report, you have the legal right to: Approach the Magistrate by filing an application seeking direction for expeditious investigation File a petition seeking monitoring of investigation In appropriate cases, approach the High Court seeking directions for completion of investigation within a time-bound manner In summary, first verify from the court through a copy application or online status. If no report is filed, proceed legally against the police for delay rather than relying on their statements.

Order Sheet / Case Status: You can obtain the order sheet from the concerned court by visiting the filing/record section and applying for a certified copy. If no report has been filed, the court record will reflect that. You may also check status on the e-courts portal (if case is filed). you need an advocate for filing certified copies. you can contact me for minimum fees
