How to get access to court case file

27-Nov-2024 (In Criminal Law)
Two neighbors having legal dispute for 5+ years. I do not know who is telling truth. I need to find out. I am friend to both of them. I assume that if matter in court and not marked confidential then it available for public accessl. Can I go to court records department as a stranger and inspect the court file on simple request or do I need to get official permission and from whom

Well, you need to have basic details like Case No, Name of the Parties, Cell No, etc, to find the details of the case filed by the concerned parties, with which parties, you are in touch with. As a third party, it is very hard for you to get the Certified Copies, but true copies you can get from Court of the filed Petition by such parties.

Court records are public documents unless explicitly marked as confidential or sealed by the Court, to get access to Court Records you must have several details such as Case Number and Court Name, you can then access those records on E-Courts Portal or High Courts or Supreme Court Website.
