GFs family assaulted the friend want to take criminal action

I need help for my friend. He has been loving a girl since 4 years. However, it is one sided love and he has been approaching the girl continiously. Now that my friend told everything to his family and his family approached her parents. My friend texted her through SMS and explained his feelings towards her. The girl told her family about this and her parents came to my friend's home and smashed him badly. Can we legally lodge a complaint regarding the same as nobody has the right to take law in their hands. Free advice is much appreciated. Thanks.

Yes u can file the complaint against girl family under IPC. Based on the evidence only they will punished by court of law.
Complaint can file under 1)House-trespass 2)Life-threatening ....or 294 b ,506(2), 352,448... write your complaint very carefully....

a compliant to the nearest police station be made. but your friend has committed the mistake of sending SMS which is against the law under Information Technology Act and also under IPC. The Girls family may file complaint against your friend also under the IPC for misuse of girls
