Gave life threat to neighbour during a heated discussion with him.

21-Sep-2023 (In Criminal Law)
My neighbour fought with me for land dispute. I gave a life threat to him and he made audio and video of the same. Later he submitted the audio and video to the police. Police registered the complaint but is not asking me anything. What can i do? How can do to protect myself?

check out for any possible FIR against you.
if police gives you a notice to join investigation, steps to be taken accordingly for anticipatory bail.
generally police registers an FIR under section 506 IPC for these matters. here it would be section 506 part II

Dear Sir
As per your query, the offence of criminal intimidation u/s 506 ipc is bailable and non-cognizable meaning that only a complaint and no FIR be registered against you ... Unless you are staying in UP where 506 is non-bailable. Your need to now cooperate with the police if and when it comes for investigation. Only if the complainant pursues the matter in Court and court orders for arrest, then you might be arrested. But it is unlikely and even if you are arrested you shall be given a bail as a matter of right. No anticipatory bail needed. You may go to the Police and talk it out with them (if you know what i mean).
