FIR Registered Despite e-Challan Payment

10-Apr-2025 (In Criminal Law)
An FIR has been registered against me by the state, under Sections 122/177 of the Motor Vehicles Act due to an e-Challan issued in March 2024. Although I paid the fine online in December 2024, the case now appears in the Lok Adalat. I want to understand why the FIR was filed despite the payment and what steps I should take next

Gather all the proofs of payment like payment received for ee Chalaan ee challan copy showing the E Jalan Ve number vehicle number and bank statement or UPI confirmation showing the transaction check the status online of the ESL chala in Eeshaan Porter visit the traffic department which is an optional but always useful than if your case is selected in Lokada generally for pick up quick resolution especially for traffic matters so appear on the scheduled date carry all the payment proof and vehicle documents politely explain to the judge official that you have already paid and the documents

If the FIR is filed, then it is mandatory for the police to investigate on the FIR. You should visit the police station which has registered the FIR and meet the Investigation Officer (IO) appointed in your case. Submit the proof of e-challan payment with him, along with other evidences (if any). The IO will record your statement, and will close the case, if everything is in order. In case you require any further legal assistance you may contact me.
