Fingerprinting while arresting for drinking at public place

27-Nov-2023 (In Criminal Law)
Hi, I was taken into police station kept behind the bars for 2 hrs back in 2010 while drinking in my locality. I was arrested, the cop wrote everything about me in his 'khata'. After 2 hrs a person claimed to be a lawyer came, took my sign on a few papers and forms, fingerprinted me in a few. I couldn't remember the documents clearly. Then asked me to hand over Rs. 500 and then asked me to leave. Upon asking he also told me that he would pay the fine to the magistrate the next day and I don't need to come. Since then nothing has happened. But nowadays when I think about it I wonder have they uploaded my fingerprints somewhere where the fingerprints of the convicts/criminals are kept? Please suggest.

I am not privy to the actual turn of events and is as much a stranger if not more than you to the later course of events that happened on the day of incident but gathering from my little experience I can assure you that your apprehensions though justified from a lay man's perspective is absolutely unfounded from any person who knows the procedural aspect on such detention. I therefore would recommend you to not worry about that biometric of yours so captured and in case you find your fears come true at any point of time do feel free to reach out any good advocate. I'm hopeful though this advice will not see the light of the day.
