Ex commited fraud and ran with money. Name on agreement with him

06-Mar-2025 (In Criminal Law)
I was in a relationship for 2 years. My ex took money from me over lot of things. We took an apartment on rent where we rented furniture as well. My ex always kept taking money in online mode claiming he is paying. But never did. One day he sold some of the furniture which was rented. He also took some money from someone who knows both of us. Will I be framed as he has taken money and not payed to other party.

If the money was taken online you can file a recovery suit. If you are sure that he knowingly committed fraud on your, you can submit a police complaint for registration of FIR against him. If he pays back and accepts his mistake you can always take back your complaint and if he does not then police will take care of it

The significance of your relationship with the borrower is diminished if you are a co-signer on any documents pertaining to the rental or loan of goods or funds. In such cases, it is advisable to consult with a legal professional, providing them with your documentation, and consider initiating your claim through a legal notice at a minimum. Further guidance can be offered based on the specific documents available.
